I can hear the faint rustle as a tropical breeze wafts through the palm trees in the yard. The sun beats down in full radiance, highlighting the brightness of all the colors around me: an empty red Indian hammock swinging between two leafy trees, enticing sleepy eyes to an afternoon nap; a yellow and blue beach ball waiting beneath the shade for a few playmates; and a green coconut sitting ready in my hand, halved with a straw idly waiting to offer refreshment. As I walk closer toward the shore, the rhythm of the waves increases in volume. The sky and the sea meet in the horizon in lines of brilliant blue and the waves play tag with my feet as I walk along the wet sand. Warmth. Sunlight. Saturated color. Humidity. Tropics.
I'm so ready for the winter to be gone.
