Quit being lukewarm.
Don't lose this chance to repent of your dead works and futile plans. What do you put your identity and security in? Sure, you say Christ, but when it comes down to it, you make your decisions based on your own comfort and security, and just enough Christ so it looks good to other Christians without being fanatical to non-Christians. Why ride the line? What do you get?
Do you not understand that God is holy? A consuming fire? Jealous for his own? And you are out dilly-dallying with every sort of sin and frivolity, ignorant to the great cosmic war that is being fought over eternal destinies. Even your destiny. Don't you know who you are??!
You are loved and cherished. Yet you scorn the love offered to you. Oh, not overtly, because it is in to talk about God = love. But deep down in your independent and rebellious core, you cannot yield to it and accept it. Because your self is your greatest asset, and if you surrender that, to a God you're not sure is all good, well, that's too much insecurity for you to deal with.
But seriously. You are called to a victorious identity, intrinsically involved in the redemptive work of Christ on this planet, for he is the head of the body. Of you. Of us. But you will have none of it, not when it really matters. Not when it means giving up your soap operas, your lying and your clout with the popular decision makers.
I'm disgusted, even though I am part of you, and I love you. I plead with you--repent, get your act together, and live the love you were called into. Let the spirit of love, power and self-discipline be your compass, knocking away fear, shame and anger. Lift your eyes to Christ and let his kingdom come through you, because there's a world out there that is dying.
Repent, would you?
